Ask any music fan and you'd likely come to a consensus that 2013 has been a fantastic year for music. It has seen the rise of promising, fresh acts and the unveiling of long awaited albums alike, so naturally, trying to narrow down the year's best to only a select few (or even 30) has been a challenge. Below, our lists can be found, along with a Spotify mix of songs spanning the year.

Is Survived By

On Is Survived By: Ever since I first heard Touche Amore, I knew that whatever they might reease was going to appeal to me.  Is Survived By is a huge move forward for the band, and the growth is getting me even more excited for these guys. This was easily my favorite hardcore album of the year.

Sunbather

On Sunbather: Deafheaven's Sunbather might be the most intense and beautiful piece of music this year. Their sound is huge and I honestly can't get enough of it. Deathwish (their label) was on point when they released this album, and I can see Deafheaven being their staple band in years to come.

The Things We Think We're Missing

On The Things We Think We're Missing: I wrote a review about how much I loved this album and even predicted that it would be my favorite of the year. Well, what do you know. The Things We Think We're Missing doesn't skip a beat and expands on 2011's Separation perfectly. If you only listen to one album this year, make it this one.
